Abstract

In Jia Baolong Researchable Ontology (JBLRO), materialism and idealism are not two ultimate ontologies that must eliminate one another. Each grasps one direction of the same self-referential loop of existence: materialism accurately describes forward generation from foundational dynamics through proto-matter and life to the brain; idealism accurately discloses consciousness’s configuration of the phenomenal world and the subject’s backward recognition of the root.

Their shared error is to mistake the semicircle each grasps for the entire circle. Materialism treats matter, which appears midway through generation, as the absolute beginning; idealism inverts consciousness, which appears at the terminus of generation, into the absolute cause. JBLRO is neither a compromise between them nor a third standpoint outside the elephant. JBLRO is the entire ontological elephant, containing the root, material generation, the emergence of consciousness, and backward recognition.

1. Complete coordinates: two directions of one self-referential loop

The complete JBLRO generation–knowledge loop is:

$$ \boxed{ U_*\mid\mathrm{PR} \rightarrow \mathrm{ER+LE} \xRightarrow{\mathrm{RULE}} \mathrm{Chaos} \rightarrow \mathrm{ProtoMatter} \rightarrow \mathrm{ProtoChemistry} \rightarrow \mathrm{Life} \rightarrow \mathrm{Brain} \rightarrow \mathrm{Consciousness} \rightarrow \mathrm{PhenomenalWorld} \rightarrow \operatorname{Recognize}(U_*\mid\mathrm{PR}) } $$

The loop has two directions:

                            backward recognition
          +-------------------------------------------+
          |                                           |
          v                                           |
  [U_* | PR]                                    [Consciousness]
       |                                               ^
       |                                               |
       +-> ER/LE -> Chaos -> ProtoMatter -> Life ------+
                             forward generation
  • The semicircle of forward generation: how root dynamics form objective structures, proto-matter, life, brains, and consciousness.
  • The semicircle of backward recognition: how consciousness configures the phenomenal world, forms concepts and theories, and recognizes the root in return.

Materialism works chiefly along forward generation; idealism works chiefly along backward recognition. They are tangents to different segments of one loop of existence, not two isolated worlds.

2. Materialism: the lower semicircle of forward generation

Materialism grasps the following structure:

$$ \mathrm{PR/ER/LE} \xRightarrow{\mathrm{RULE}} \mathrm{FractalChaos} \rightarrow \mathrm{ProtoMatter} \rightarrow \mathrm{ProtoChemistry} \rightarrow \mathrm{Life} \rightarrow \mathrm{Brain}. $$

2.1 What materialism sees truly

Materialism grasps an unshakable fact: the objective world does not change according to any individual’s subjective will. The formation of proto-matter, proto-chemical reactions, autocatalytic networks, the first cell, heredity and selection, multicellular life, and brain networks all proceed along real constraints, causal relations, and evolutionary paths.

The bottom-up path from proto-matter to brain is materialism’s most solid domain. It requires every higher-level phenomenon to have a generative history, and it opposes treating life and consciousness as mysterious entities suddenly added from outside the system. This direction forms an indispensable major portion of JBLRO’s forward-generative semicircle.

2.2 Why materialism has only a semicircle

When materialism makes Matter the absolute first cause, it begins midway through the generative chain:

$$ \mathrm{Matter} \not\equiv \mathrm{Root}. $$

Before matter, spacetime, and physical law already exist, questions remain: Why is matter possible? Why does actual existence move? How do laws enter actual execution? Why can a static description become an actual occurrence?

Materialism can also describe how brains evolve from matter, but “matter in collision” alone does not explain why consciousness acquires first-person experience, free judgment, metacognition, and self-referential reflection. It explains the climb from soil and stone to eyes, but does not complete the upper semicircle in which eyes see their own origin.

3. Idealism: the upper semicircle of backward recognition

Idealism chiefly grasps this structure:

$$ \mathrm{Consciousness} \rightarrow \mathrm{PhenomenalWorld} \rightarrow \mathrm{ConceptualStructure} \rightarrow \operatorname{Recognize}(U_*\mid\mathrm{PR}). $$

3.1 What idealism sees truly

Idealism grasps an irreducible epistemic fact: all knowledge expressed as “matter,” “law,” “space,” “time,” or “universe” must be presented, distinguished, modelled, and confirmed in consciousness. Consciousness is not a passive camera-like mirror; it participates in forming the structure of the phenomenal world.

From Kant’s transcendental apperception and Hegel’s Absolute Spirit to contemporary discussions of observation, measurement, and subject-modeling, different positions have touched the configurative power of consciousness. Idealism therefore grasps the real direction of JBLRO’s semicircle of backward recognition: after existence generates consciousness, consciousness brings itself, the world, and the root back into cognition.

3.2 Why idealism also has only a semicircle

When idealism places consciousness, mind, God, or Absolute Spirit directly at the root, it inverts a result of generation into its cause:

$$ \mathrm{Consciousness}_{\text{result}} \not\equiv \mathrm{RootCause}. $$

Before nervous systems, life, and proto-matter have formed, no personal consciousness with experiential content exists. Consciousness is a high-level product of the generative chain, not a transcendental subject already seated at the root before the First Beat.

Idealism correctly discovers that eyes can configure and know the world, but places mature eyes before soil, life, and body. It preserves backward recognition while cutting off the forward generative history that produces the subject of recognition.

4. JBLRO is not a third segment: it is the whole ontological elephant

JBLRO does not look for a fifty-fifty compromise between materialism and idealism, and it is not a third local view above them. The Jia Baolong Axiomatic System is the entire ontological elephant:

  1. $U_*\mid\mathrm{PR}$ fixes the pre-material, pre-conscious root;
  2. PR–ER–LE and concrete RULE unfold objective generation;
  3. chaos forms proto-matter, which continues into proto-chemistry, life, and brain;
  4. the brain gives rise to consciousness, which forms the phenomenal world and theory;
  5. consciousness traces the generative chain backward to recognize $U_*\mid\mathrm{PR}$ and completes the loop.

The root is neither a physical particle nor a subjective mind. At that point there is neither spacetime and matter nor nervous systems and conscious experience. The root is the atemporal co-arising of the zero-positive boundary and the first actual self-reflexive dynamic:

$$ U_*\mid\mathrm{PR}. $$

JBLRO thereby returns the two semicircles to one whole: the material path explains how existence grows eyes; the ideal path explains how those eyes see existence clearly.

5. Runtime and Reflection: unity of the two paths

By computer analogy:

  • materialism is the Runtime of forward generation, stressing objective structure, causal evolution, and real execution;
  • idealism is the Reflection of higher consciousness, stressing presentation, meaning, conceptual modeling, and self-knowledge;
  • JBLRO is the complete process from actualization at the root through forward running to internal reflection.

The ontological core of JBLRO is not a classical computer. It is a medium-free topological dynamics that unifies continuity and discreteness. Runtime and Reflection name two functional directions; they do not reduce the universe to an already existing machine.

The unified structure is:

$$ \underbrace{ U_*\mid\mathrm{PR} \rightarrow \mathrm{World} \rightarrow \mathrm{Life} \rightarrow \mathrm{Consciousness} }_{\mathrm{Runtime}} \rightarrow \underbrace{ \operatorname{Recognize}(U_*\mid\mathrm{PR}) }_{\mathrm{Reflection}}. $$

6. Repositioning a two-thousand-year dispute

The dispute between materialism and idealism has remained unresolved because each side uses one semicircle to negate the other:

  • materialism says only forward generation is real and backward recognition is incidental;
  • idealism says only what is presented in consciousness can be confirmed, so consciousness or spirit must be fundamental.

JBLRO restates their coordinates: objective generation makes consciousness possible; conscious reflection gives existence internal knowledge of itself. Without forward material–life generation, there is no subject; without a subject’s backward recognition, there is no internal confirmation of existence’s root.

They are not opponents who must defeat one another, but rather:

$$ \mathrm{MaterialGeneration} \oplus \mathrm{IdealReflection} \subset \mathrm{JBLROCompleteLoop}. $$

Materialism and idealism both touch real parts of the elephant, but each touches a local structure in a different direction. JBLRO offers not conceptual reconciliation, but a generative explanation of why both arise, where each is correct, and why neither can be a complete ontology on its own.

Conclusion

Materialism explains how soil grows eyes; idealism explains how eyes come to see the soil; Jia Baolong Researchable Ontology presents the complete ontological elephant from absolute boundary and first actuality through matter, life, consciousness, and backward recognition.

$$ \boxed{ \text{root} \rightarrow \text{material generation} \rightarrow \text{life and consciousness} \rightarrow \text{backward recognition of the root} } $$

Materialism and idealism are therefore no longer ultimate enemies. One is responsible for growing eyes from the soil; the other for using eyes to understand the soil beneath them. Where they meet is the complete loop in which existence comes to know itself.
